Celebrate the Seasons Adding Fall Décor to Your Home

Picture
Fall is a time of change not only in the seasons but in our homes. You begin to think of Halloween and Thanksgiving as soon as the first leaves change to gold and auburn, and the first crisp cool mornings greet you as you send the kids off to school wearing jackets for the first time this year. Plans are made to begin the preparations’ for the Holiday Season, beginning with decorating our homes to match the changes seen in nature.

Using fall colors and textures are a way to blend the beauty seen outdoors with the ideal décor for inside our homes. From last season we have the traditional selections of faux pumpkins, gourds, and cornucopias that represent the holidays, and even linens in hues of earthy browns and greens, with a touch of orange and rusty reds. Looking them over you may notice that you always use them in the same way, perhaps it is time for a change this year; there are other possible ways to decorate using the materials at hand for a new take on an old tradition. Here are a few ideas to get you started;

Doorway and Entrance Décor

If you are tired of the traditional pile of pumpkins and scarecrow, then add a bit of flair to your entryway with color and brightness. Place an outdoor rug beside your door and add pots of beautiful fall chrysanthemums that will be seen from the street. Add raffia tied bundles of fountain grass and wheat to your piles of pumpkins, the décor can stay from October through November with only an addition of Halloween spookiness to relieve the seasonal requirements for change. A beautiful fall colored wreath on the doorway with reds and oranges can provide a welcome for the season and send a message of the colors that will be found in the home to welcome the Holidays ahead.

Bring Fall in Through The Front Door

Using a beautiful natural Flokati rug as your inspiration, pull the colors of fall from its rich plush threads and provide a focal point for your color scheme. Place baskets of pinecones, and fall leaves atop the rug in the hallway or foyer and your guest will be greeted by the sense of depth and textures their beauty provides.

Fall into the Living Room

The living room is where your family spends most of its time, so why not bring a touch of the fall season indoors and make it a daily part of your life. Throw pillows are wonderful simple touches that can draw a room décor together. The beauty of colored Flokati rugs is their availability in colors and shapes to match any décor. Flokati rugs can be placed in front of a fireplace and their glowing brightness becomes the setting for a basket filled with fall leaves, and the backdrop used to draw attention to a beautifully decorated mantelpiece; or placed underneath a table topped with candles in fall colors, they become a soft place to rest tired feet.

Centerpiece of Excellence

The dining room in the fall season can be the mainstay of your home as you entertain family and friends in its comfort and beautiful setting. You can set the table with a fall centerpiece that can stay around till Christmas. Place a solid color table cloth on a table setting atop an area rug that is filled with hues found during the harvest season; place an overlay of lace and your table is ready to receive the traditional treatment of overflowing cornucopia or something more modern that reflects your personal sense of style. Perhaps a beautiful cut-glass bowl filled with floating candles sitting amidst a spray of fall leaves.

Where ever you look in your home, there are possibilities’ for adding touches of fall colors and textures that will beautifully reflect not only the season, but the personal stylish elegance of its owners. Bring fall into your home in time for Halloween centerpieces, and celebrate Thanksgiving with bountiful harvest themes of color and textures.
